How to set up your restaurant
Menüto runs entirely in the browser, nothing to install. Every device signs in with a team account and opens one of the three addresses below. Recommended: one tablet at the counter, one or two TVs and at least one touch kiosk.
Device links. Without signing in: under Settings → Devices you can create a link with a secret key for each device. Open it once on the TV, kiosk or tablet and that is it: no team account on the device, no logouts after updates. Share the link internally only; if it leaks, simply deactivate it.
Tablet at the counter · Incoming orders
Shows every incoming order (kiosk, QR code, website, manual) in real time with a sound. Staff confirm orders here and mark them “Ready”.
Address on the device
https://menu-to-go.base44.app/liveHardware
- Tablet of 10 inches or more (iPad or Android) with a stand and permanent power
- Reliable Wi‑Fi at the counter
- Optional: a printer the browser can print to (AirPrint or Mopria)
Setup step by step
- 1Sign in at menuto.app in the browser with the device account.
- 2Open the dashboard and pick the right restaurant if you have several.
- 3Open the address below: that is the tablet mode for orders.
- 4Add the page to the home screen (iPad: Share menu, Android: browser menu) so it starts like an app.
- 5Turn off screen lock and auto sleep, turn the volume up.
Tips
- The first tap after opening enables the sound for new orders; browsers require that.
- Several tablets at once are fine, for example one at the counter and one in the kitchen.
TV · Number display
Shows, big and readable from afar, which numbers are being prepared and which are ready for pickup. The QR code for ordering by phone runs along the bottom.
Address on the device
https://menu-to-go.base44.app/display/your-placeHardware
- Any TV or monitor with an HDMI input, landscape or portrait
- A player with a browser: Raspberry Pi (model 4 or newer) with Chromium in kiosk mode, a mini PC or Chromebox, an Android TV stick (Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV) or a retired laptop
- A second TV, e.g. in the waiting area: same address, its own player
Setup step by step
- 1Connect the player via HDMI and join the Wi‑Fi.
- 2Open the browser and sign in with the device account.
- 3Open the address below.
- 4Tap the fullscreen button top right (F11 on a computer).
- 5Disable power saving and screen savers on the player and the TV.
Tips
- Raspberry Pi: install Raspberry Pi OS with desktop, enable auto-login and start Chromium at boot with “chromium-browser --kiosk --noerrdialogs https://menu-to-go.base44.app/display/your-place”. Sign in once; the session is kept.
- The board refreshes itself every 5 seconds. Ready numbers stay for 30 minutes.
- After signing in nothing needs to be tapped: the TV needs neither mouse nor keyboard in daily use.
Touch kiosk · Ordering on site
Guests order themselves: start screen with “Order here” or “With your phone”, cart, order number. Staff need the PIN to leave kiosk mode.
Address on the device
https://menu-to-go.base44.app/t/your-placeHardware
- Touch kiosk or floor stand with a tablet, iPad 11 inches or larger or an Android tablet of 11 to 13 inches, portrait
- Alternatively a 21 to 27 inch touch monitor on a Raspberry Pi or mini PC in kiosk mode
- Permanent power and Wi‑Fi, optionally a card terminal or till next to it for payment
Setup step by step
- 1Sign in with the device account and open the address below.
- 2Enter the terminal PIN, once per session.
- 3Tap “Kiosk” at the top: fullscreen that can only be left with the PIN.
- 4iPad: also enable Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility). Android: use a kiosk app such as Fully Kiosk Browser. Guests then cannot switch to other apps.
- 5Place a test order: the number shows on the tablet and, after “Ready”, on the TV.
Tips
- After every order the kiosk returns to the start screen by itself. After 20 seconds without a touch it asks “Still there?”.
- More than one kiosk: open the same address on every device, order numbers stay unique.
- When the queue is long, the start screen shows the QR code so guests order straight from their phone.
How an order flows
- 1The guest orders at the kiosk or by QR code from the phone and gets a number.
- 2The order appears immediately, with a sound, on the counter tablet.
- 3The kitchen taps “Ready” as soon as everything is done.
- 4The number lights up on the TV under “Ready for pickup”.
Check before you start
- Terminal PIN set: protects the till, discounts, kiosk mode and cleanup.
- QR ordering by phone switched on so kiosk and TV show the code.
- Guest start screen active: needed for kiosks, switch off for a staff-only till.
- Table numbers, customer name and receipt printing set as needed.
- Menu published and prices checked.
A separate account for devices
Under Team, create a dedicated account for the devices, e.g. devices@your-place.bg, with the “Manager” role. Never sign in with the owner account on devices guests touch. The terminal PIN additionally protects everything that involves money.
